I adjusted the sky to make it more dark and the buildings more

white. Does that add to the effect or take away from it? Thanks

Your adjustment on the sky and the resulting contrast is spot-on. A good city-scape. Being rendered in good old B&W was a very wise choice for this dramatic piece of art.

 

I was wondering though; (and I admit that I know nothing of digital cameras)does your gear take filters? No, not applications in Photoshop, I mean real colored glass that screws in front of the lens. I think you would have achieved a similar but even stronger effect with a red filter. But as I said, I am truly ignorant about things digital.

No, unfortunately, my camera does not take filters (though some digital cameras do). I do have my filters from my old film cameras that I can place in front of the lens though (which I have done in the past).
