Yellow plant on blue snow

gauthier

Deliberate underexposure + tungsten balanced flash on the plant. Not a very good photo, but comments from those who use this technique are welcome (and strongly encouraged). Uncropped. Uploaded February 21, 2002.

This is an experiment using and advanced technique combining a filter,

a gelled flash and deliberate underexposure - the method is decribed

under the techical notes. It was taken in full daylight.

I don't pretend to perfection, here, but I'd like to get hints on how

to orient the flash with a better precision and what levels of

underexposure you've found optimal.

Comments about the overall composition are welcome, too, of course.

Thank you all.

Nice idea and nice colors. I never tryed the technique, so I will not comment on it. But I think the image could win by having more "perspective", e.g. with a slightly flater angle.

Very fond of this technique. Achieves color and saturation not normally found in daylight balanced material. I have also had fun with this film with Winter subject matters. I'll post a shot of frozen berries I used with tungsten film on an overcast day and it worked quite well too.
