philip gleeson 0 Posted July 21, 2006 Sorry i can't criticise this at all - very good. The bottom fifth could be cropped but not really necessary :-) Link to comment
dusty2004 0 Posted September 5, 2006 Hi Jimmy. Are you familiar with the rule of nine ? A brief explanation. A successful image is built on composition of horizontal, vertical, radial and many other forms of lines. This gives an image structure a bit like a frame for a house. We need to use these lines to our advantage. Imagine a piece of A4 paper divided into nine equal squares by drawing two vertical and two horizontal line. The two horizontal lines is for the horizon. The vertical lines are for subject placement. The lines are guides only. Think of them as reference points from which to work. Placing the subject in the middle creates a static image. There is much more I can tell you, a little at a time. I would like to suggest that you go into my abstract folder and study the lines in the black and white image titled Bendigo Art Gallery. You will see what I mean about lines. How they work. In particular look at what is called a leading line. This is the line that draws you into the picture. Cheers for now Jimmy. Happy shooting.
