It was a beautiful show watching the stallions. Indoor light was a

challenge, but I had fun shooting. Comments/critique welcome

The blurred background makes this one stand out. I'm surprised at the Dof on the other 2 shots at the f-stops listed. Either way this one's nice Terri .... (-;

Thanks Ken. Ratings be damned - I really like this shot :) Panning at this slow shutter speed got me a lot of blur in the background and on the horses legs, which I like. Maybe my distance (3rd row seat) gave me more DOF on the other shots. (I'd hoped to blur out the crowd more than what I got on those) At any rate, my first indoor event and a great learning experience!

I've had similiar difficulties with some shots I've done at Native American PowWow's - a distracting background - indoor arena. I'm not sure how often you get to ones of these shows - but have you ever zoomed the lens during a 1/2 second exposure ? - pointed at one of these guys? ... It's fun - give it a try ... (-;

OOooo....no I haven't, but it sounds interesting! This was my first horse event & 1st indoor also. Probably won't see anything like it again for a long time. I'll be going to a rodeo next Sunday though - plenty of light (outdoors) and hopefully many photo ops there, as it'll be my 1st rodeo :)

Well this is not the best example I have of zooming the lens during exposure but it gives you the idea - I'm thinking a horse and rider might look pretty cool ... (-;

I saw this on the "no words" forum today, and obviously you got low ratings because the horse was above the vertical! (Just kidding, but hey, isn't this supposed to be dressage? He looks so inverted and not round.)

Good stuff here in your portfolio. And yes, PN is intimidating, but what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right? Difficult lighting situation, and you did well with it.
