jmontgomery 0 Posted July 13, 2006 Really don't understand the orange color ... it is real, yet the Russell's Mill Pond is quite beautiful color ... Please view large and comment ... Link to comment
dimartino 0 Posted July 13, 2006 Down here in jersey, we call it "cedar water". Mostly likely, it is aslo called the same there too. It originates from bogs and swamps where there are stands of cedar trees and there is a whole chemical thing for why it happens that's too deep to get into in this forum. But anyway, there you have it. Some call it tea water and where the acids are a bit stronger, it kinda looks like birch beer. Link to comment
jmontgomery 0 Posted July 13, 2006 Thanks ... something I had not heard before! Quite interesting :-) Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted July 15, 2006 Whatever it is, it works well. The streaks in the falling water really add to it. Did you try different shutter speeds to capture more FG detail? Link to comment
jmontgomery 0 Posted July 15, 2006 I did ... but this was hand held and about as slow as I could go. I took some faster with more DOF, compositions with different focal lengths, etc. ... but of maybe 5 shots this was the only one I was happy with. (My tripod was at home ...). Thanks for commenting :-) Link to comment
seandepuydt 2 Posted July 15, 2006 Yep, it's the cedar trees. Many of the rivers where I live are like this. Link to comment
