Guest Guest Posted August 9, 2006 I actually saw one of these giant rats crossing the road when I was still living there. How are you feeling these days with that heat wave we special delivered to you? I can somewhat deal with the heat but plus humidity? I don't think I can move back there. Link to comment
sky blue 0 Posted August 10, 2006 It's that time of year in Texas when the wind comes from a hairdryer. Very hot. 109 tomorrow. Thanks for keeping our Summer moving in the right direction. Unfortunately, these guys end up all over the road around here. They are Texas roadkill, I'm afraid. This was a baby one in the photo and I was sick that every photo came out so poor. This was the best of about 15. I'm on a quest for a good photo though. I have the worst luck taking photos of these, but I haven't given up. Take care and stay cool, Thai. dguindon 0 Posted August 20, 2006 Much too warm there for a white skinned Canandian. It's too bad these critter's are only known for being speed bumps of the Texas kind. I would think with the size of them ears they would sense on-coming traffic..guess not eh. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 20, 2006 My son has a mounted one with the tail tip broken off and feathers sticking out of it...This one's cuter :~) I've never seen one in the wild...our masses of roadkill are prairie dogs. Keep that creativity going, Sky! Link to comment
sky blue 0 Posted August 21, 2006 Kim, this one was pretty cute as far as armadillos go... it was so small. As many losses as they have here it's good they are used for something and almost every truckstop and road cafe has more than one decoratin' the premises. Ya'll take care there. Don they have one survival flaw when it comes to roadways. The little rascals jump straight up in the air when startled (sometimes more than two feet high)this does not serve them well beneath a speeding vehicle. Canadian cold... Boy that sounds good right about now. Thank ya'll for stopping by... ~Sky Link to comment
