giovanni_pascarella1 0 Posted July 14, 2006 I wish my toilet was clean like this one. Composition ok, but it is a boring shot. Is there a story behind? Are you trying to communicate us something with this shot? I hope so. Link to comment
albertdarmali 1 Posted July 14, 2006 Giovanni: No, no hidden message around this picture. Just making some composition works here. The toilet was clean indeed though. Or else I wouldn't pulled out my cam era and started shooting. Slightly out of topic, you do realise that in order for a picture to be meaningful, it doesn't have to be too staged and too obvious for the viewer to see, don't you? If you find this picture boring, I think you and me really have different perspective of what a good picture is. Based from your pictures, seem like you like to communicate using your picture in a more obvious way, but me, I like the viewers to understand it and get the meaning by looking at it more carefully. But for this one, it's just a compositional work, nothing more than that. But anyway, I think we have a totally different taste in photography (just like paintings), this picture to me is far from boring, but since you seem like not to be able to understand/appreciate it at all, that says a lot to your understanding (or taste) of the picture. wellbeyond 0 Posted July 14, 2006 I remember reading somewhere that a famous artist once said that uninals are actually very much sculptures in the way they're designed and how their lines and forms work...you caught the artistic aspects in the shot to the point that we momentarily forget what these "sculptures" are actually used for..lol...Nice work. albertdarmali 1 Posted July 15, 2006 Byron: Thanks for the comments, what originally caught me to make a picture was: first, the toilet was so clean I didn't hesitate to pull out my camera, second, the lining urinals and the overall colour tone of the toilet, and I figured out the lights on top can also be used to support the composition of the urinals. I actually have a few shots that combine lining white urinals and white overall room with a red toilet door, it made a strong contrast, but unfortunately I don't like any of the shots I took that include the red door. Maybe next time. Link to comment
rasmuslindersson 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Fantastic composition! Nice use of the light in the room. Kind of original subjects, but really good! Link to comment
mmene 0 Posted December 1, 2006 I like it too much Albert and it is no boring at all according to my taste of view. It's a very nice perspective with excellent light, composition and grey tones. I really don't find any aesthetic difference between a clean WC and a clean dining room. In the contrary the WC is a proof of a higher degree of civilization. Congrats my friend. Well done. Michael. mugglee 0 Posted April 18, 2007 Albert, very nice, I love it! I came to your portfolio by way of a rating you left. Interestingly, my photo was a bathroom sink that you rated 5/5. I think some others couldn't quite see the beauty in them by the looks of the rating so far. Anyway, now I see you also can't resist the lovely porcelain tones and tile lines in a bathroom :) Cheers. albertdarmali 1 Posted April 19, 2007 Thanks Geoff, glad you like it. Yeah, the good thing about photography is you can have opportunity pretty much in any place. Pity some people don't get it. :) Link to comment
mauroni 0 Posted May 7, 2008 Hi Albert and thanx for voting my macro. The picture is really well composed and interesting but the most intriguing aspect, to me, is that I cannot say at the first glance if this is a colour or b&w shot. At the second glance I undertand I don't care of it, because the picture is anyway a colour one. Many compliments. Mauro Link to comment
albertdarmali 1 Posted May 9, 2008 I'm glad that you liked it Mauroni, this is I think my favourite too out of the three. Thanks! Link to comment
mauroni 0 Posted May 9, 2008 Albert, please, consider the chance to use Mauro instead of Mauroni (this kinda nickname is the mix of my first and last name, but not actually in use...). :-) Link to comment
