Very nice idea, PT. I love the concept. There are so many opposite "halves" to look at, colour, facial expression, it is very nice. On the technical side, I would have prefered less exposure on the white side. I find there are too many details lost. Also, I'm not sure if it is intentional, but I'm a little distracted by the white side being slightly wider than the dark side.

Cheers,

Mark

PT this is a good idea. The only suggestion I have is whether you could have combined the two halves at the center.

Nice theme fit PT! Like stated above, the tones, the expression, ...

On the technical side, I wonder if it wouldn't be better if you had cropped each version the same way but leaving less negative space between them. I'm not sure I understand the idea you want to convey with these empty spaces.

Are we talking about the two-halves-of-a-face theory here? One the happy

side of the "self", the other the serious or sad side.

Maybe the empty space means the work that one has to do to reconcile both parts...

Ok, I'm going to lay on my couch and think about this.

I like the concept PT, real good idea, rendition has the problems mentioned above, but what disturbs me most is the white side lack of good details, I would have liked a better exposure. all that said, the idea is nice and fits the theme.

Thank you all. Mark, the hi-key look was intentional. Like you said, I wanted to set them apart, in several ways and make the other side more buoyant. I agree I have lost some detail in the process of making it hi-key. I played with it for quite a while but the hi-key side wasn't completely done to my satisfaction. I will rework that and post again. btw, Here is the original ver. of the left half (without the hi-key rendering). Will post the reworked version later. Mandar, I had a similar thought as your's at one point but thought may be that would make it somewhat an obvious presentation. I wanted some negative space between the two to set them apart. That was pretty deep thought Joe :-) btw, I measured the two halves by grids to be equal.

I like the idea and of course it is a perfect fit to the theme. Although the contrasts between the faces are pretty obvious, the empty space bothers me a bit as they split up the differences too much (for me at least)

The idea is very clever PT - wonderful thinking!

I agree with what others have said but the negative space doesn't bother me. Perhaps a simple frame (one thin black line) would help to hold the two sides together. Other than that I'd prefer the hair to match better left and right, if possible, same for clothing collar and tilt of face (the dark version seems to be angled slightly higher).

I like the attachment shot (otherhalf2) more the the original.

Only observation being the white side is showing more than half of her face.

Shouldn't both faces be divided down the middle?

All in all a wonderful addition to the folder.

Good idea. You could also have shown it with both half faces joining in the middle. Maybe one happy and one sad, and with the same contrast. And a white face with the dark background, and vice versa. A lot of potential IMO.

That being said, I like your original a lot, more than the second version in fact. The B&W only has a little something that makes it works good.

Thanks again for all the suggestions. I think I have incorporated most 'em here. The version I posted earlier, otherhalf2, was the original.. That was just to show how much detail was captured. The one I've posted now, is the reworked one. I haven't done much post-processing or hi-key rendering on this one since it resulted in some loss of detail that you saw in the initial PT posting. I do like to have some hi-key effect with as much detail as possible. Please feel free to take a crack at it.

Good idea. There was a comment above that said how about if the two faces were combined in the middle. I think that would be a great idea. It would give more of a 'two-faced' impression imo. I have worked with it a bit PT. Hope you don't mind. I am not very good with stuff like this, so you will have to excuse my poor job. Megan
