carsten_ranke 0 Posted July 10, 2006 This one has all bonuses of the previous version, plus an extra, the light touching the snow covered peak here. Awesome lighting, the "decisive moment" in landscape, so to say. And perhaps, the diagonal clouds line appears a bit more elegant here, if this is the right term. Hope you know what I mean. It is always a pleasure to find order in chaos... Excellent landscape ! Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted July 12, 2006 David, I prefer this one mostly because of the smoothness of the cloud formation which matches the sweeping lines of the landscape. This seems to integrate the shot better and gives it a more even feel. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted July 12, 2006 Hi David, this one from the two ,has the punch! there is a nice harmony of crossing diagonals between clouds( sky) and landscape. Nice to see you posting again. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted July 13, 2006 David, another vote for this one. The light on the peak really makes it for me. As Carsten said, it is a decisive moment. I am interested in how you exposed this. The dynamic range is very good as there must be a few stops between the light and dark sections. Link to comment
david robinson 0 Posted July 13, 2006 Thanks everyone. Your comments have been very helpful as I try to decide which of these to work on for printing. Carsten you of course understand our challenge as landscapers to reduce the complexity of the chaos inherent in nature. What fun. Jeff, this is shot @ 1/60 sec, f11. No ND filter was used, nor is this a composite image. I am finding that the 5D gives me a considerable dynamic range with which to play. Anyway thanks again to you all... Link to comment
minicucci 0 Posted July 13, 2006 David: See my comment on the other image of this scene. The light on the peak combined with the softness of sky here is amazing. Perfect. Link to comment
