naomi a. 0 Posted July 7, 2006 Rebecca died of cancer this spring. She was just 29. She had got the diagnosis just two days before Francesco's accident. She had been a fighter since that moment on and was an encouragement to all who met her. We love you Rebecca! Your sample of a fighter spurs us on no matter what the obstacles! Link to comment
bartimeus1 0 Posted July 7, 2006 My deepest condolences for you and for the close ones of her! After this kind of deep personal tragedy, one will have to build life back together from such small pieces. The image is very touching. Link to comment
mark_starr 0 Posted July 7, 2006 Your photo brought back a flood of memories. My daughter went through a year of chemo and radiation and I can't count the hours I stared at the iv lines as she slept. I am very very sorry for your loss. It is a very touching photo and a wonderful tribute to your friend. Thank-you for sharing it with us. Mark Link to comment
snapshot1 0 Posted July 7, 2006 The pastel colors of the photo suggest a peaceful mood within the quite serious circumstance. I would like to think your friend passed gracefully through her suffering. Nice contrast on several levels between the soft tones & blood-filled IV line. Link to comment
marcobrivio 0 Posted July 7, 2006 Thanks for having shared with us this picture representing a terrible, very sad moment. I am not going to comment this image because such feelings must be kept inside. Regards, Marco Link to comment
vdp 12 Posted July 7, 2006 I think this is a couragious photograph. It has in it the terrors of the world and the grace and beauty of the world. That hand, so lovely and youthful and that IV tube that tries to bring good health to a person but so often signifies the horror of disease are in the same location. Look at that graceful curve of the IV tube -- does it show that good and evil/ beauty and ugliness are closer than we think? The color of the design on the sheets are the same as the color of the nozel like thing on the IV tube, green, another instance where the pleasent is related to the ominous. I think this photograph is a respectful homage to your dear friend. And I am glad your friend who is no longer here in the same way inspired you to take this. Link to comment

hiroya 0 Posted July 14, 2006 I see you haven't expected Rebecca would pass on a few days later when you have shot this photo. You might have some misgivings about it but still kept a prayer of her recovery. I understand this is a record of time you experienced with full of hope and full of anxiety. Thank you for sharing invaluable experience. Link to comment
