drfl 0 Posted July 7, 2006 Are the middle rocks in this composition distracting? In an effort to continually improve my photography I welcome any comments. Thank You. Link to comment
mathewcook 0 Posted July 7, 2006 Hi Derrald. I think the middle rocks work just fine. The way the water flows around them is soft and pleasant in contrast to the jagged rocks behind. Great shot. Cheers, -Mathew Cook- Link to comment
emilymiller 0 Posted July 7, 2006 Beautiful colors in this photo. The middle rocks add interest to the foreground and the soft water is very nice. I might have tried moving just 1 or 2 steps to the right so the edge of the middle rocks was not so lined up with the background rocks. It is very nice as is! Link to comment
asr 0 Posted July 8, 2006 Derrald, is the reddish cast due to the real colors or the Singh-Ray filters? I have come to the conclusion that using any Singh-Ray ND filter with more than 3 stops of gradation adds significant amounts of reddish/magenta color cast. I have no idea why it is so. I was under the impression that Singh-Ray filters have the highest optical quality and no color cast whatsoever. Anyways, this is a nice capture with gentle water lapping the rocks. The reddish sky gives it a more aggressive look to this otherwise soothing and calm image. Regards, Ashutosh Link to comment
drfl 0 Posted July 10, 2006 Ashutosh, I have been wondering the same thing. Whenever I utilize my 3-stop or 4-stop grad with the 3-stop ND it always gives a reddish cast. I like it so it's not really an issue. I believe it may have something to do with the way the light comes through 6 stops of filters, that maybe the red part of the spectrum makes it through better. Either way, I have noticed it as well. Link to comment
