jodymelanson 0 Posted July 6, 2006 I shot this with my 400/5.6 and a Tamron 1.4 TC. He took off from the ground and I was following him with the lens. It wouldn't focus! It kept searching and I kept on him. Finally it focused and I got this shot. Link to comment
namurray 0 Posted July 6, 2006 Very good photo Jody. Quite sharp, nicely exposed and background colours complement the Killdeer's colouring. I've been thinking of getting a 400mm f5.6 L for horse racing and bird shots. After seeing your result with the 400mm f5.6L plus extender I think it might be the way to go. Well done. andre_mcnichols 0 Posted July 6, 2006 I knew L glass used advanced technology but I didn't know the lens would actually wait for the best moment to focus. Beautiful shot Jody, I just wish there was some motion blur on the tip of it's wings to show some movement. Andre Link to comment
Coho 2 Posted July 7, 2006 excellent shot. f5.6 with a 1.4 TC is really pushing the limits of abitity to focus which is why you had so much difficulty in auto focus. regardless, in this image you hit it perfectly. sharp bird, superb background, nice composition! Link to comment
