seven 0 Posted July 5, 2006 PT, it's quite literal but rather fun. By its nature somewhat static, a passing pedestrian might have added interest. I think the white balance is very well measured. Seems a bit soft towards the bottom of the dress? Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted July 5, 2006 Hey PT, the two halfs are there.... only their heads are missing;-)) but I like the idea and execution, , still fun interpretation of theme, no nit picks from me. Link to comment
nirakara 0 Posted July 5, 2006 An obvious thought but nicely done. The fact that they are headless mannequins made it sort of interesting to me (than real ones), making it more of a 'graphical illustration'. I like it just the way it is too. The lighting was nicely provided for you ;-) The areas at the bottom (and the top) feels to me more as a result of web-conversion quality. Link to comment
lucyhollis 2 Posted July 5, 2006 I'm thinking along the lines of the others... Nice photograph. It may be a literal translation, but you've done it well. Link to comment
shotokan 0 Posted July 5, 2006 Very nice play on words, PT. I usually think of "the better half" when speaking of my significant other, but this works very well. The image itself is nicely executed. Cheers, mark Link to comment
jana 1 Posted July 6, 2006 I also like the double meaning here/ As for the composition, I feel a bit more of the window and the building included in the image would be good. Now the shopwindow is at the frame edge, which is slightly disturbing. cheers jana Link to comment
megansteen 0 Posted July 6, 2006 Good Theme Fit PT. I agree with Jana, that including more of the store window would make it less distracting, or perhaps I tighter crop would work too (but I think having the store window in the photo gives it some balance and structure). I think it might be nice to see the bottom of the dress, and I like all the empty space at the top where their heads should be. Something that keeps distracting me, although is not a big deal, is how the bottom border is much thinner than all the other sides. megan. Link to comment
dominiquedodge 0 Posted July 7, 2006 The theme fit is fine and the headlessness is certainly an added bonus. I love the way the light falls on the folds of the dresss and the almost lack of colour. It would be nice, as others have said, to have a bit more at the bottom. I was thinking that you could/should crop closer (remove the frame altogether) but having tried, now i think it should stay (but be straightened up a bit). The whole thing looks like one of those 1" deep picture frames with little figurines inside. If the edge (white frame of the window) were the same width all round that effect might be even stronger. pt2 0 Posted July 8, 2006 Thank u for your input on this humble image. I think the softness at the bottom is noise removing smoothing. I think everyone knows the black frame is the window edge it self. Usuali I would crop out the black & not sure why I didnt in this upload. Link to comment
robidooo 0 Posted July 14, 2006 Too bad the crop is so tight at the bottom. Very good theme fit here and I agree that the fact that the mannequin have no head and arms/hands is a big bonus. Couple of different types of halves here. Good job on the exposure also. Nothing bad on this aspect to say! Link to comment
