Hi..

This is a My neighbor's little girl, Liz , who is also my daughter's

best firned. She is at very "inoncent" age, thinking the whole world

is just a big playground. I know this inoncent era will be over any

time without a trace. I consider myself lucky to catch this precious

moment..

Please comment, I appreciate.

It looks like this 'portait' suffers from 'focus problems' or maybe 'subject movement' or 'camera movement' problems as it looks shaky when viewed up close.

That does NOT mean it's a bad portait -- just the opposite, it's a beautiful photo of a beautiful person, but it just suffers from technical difficulties.

If you have Photoshop CS2 with Smart Sharpen, you might try tackling the 'sharpening issue' with 'Smart Sharpen' tool under Filters, and one of the sharpening tools under 'Smart Sharpen' actually has a circle with which you can vary the angle with which movement might be directed from/to to see if it lessens the blur (there are three choices in a choice box), and this one is for movement, as opposed to lens blur or gaussian blur -- the two other choices.

You have to experiment with the 'preview' window open on a slightly blurred feature, then move the directional angle with a cursor, or, alternately, enter in a box the degrees of angle you wish to set to examine for least movement blur.

That may take care of some of it (or not). I suspect not, however, as this appears to be a combination of blurs, or simply gaussian or lens blur -- perhaps both. Pro magazines and high-level magazines are suggesting use of 'lens blur' instead of Gaussian blur function of Smart Sharpen as the better of the tools despite the name which suggests a 'defective lens' which yours may not be.

It does look perhaps as though you simply missed the mark on focusing, or exceeded the limits on focusing, or used too slow a shutter speed without a tripod (happens to me all the time in portaiture, as who's carrying around a tripod all the time and 'that moment' is never there when there's a tripod unless you're in a studio, which one almost never is, and even then, it never recurs when the camera is mounted on a tripod, which takes time -- fleeting 'looks' go away.

I'm not too sure about the frame or the captioning on the frame; in my view it detracts somewhat, but then I never (NEVER) frame my photos so what do I know?

(I don't rate, so if you get any low rates, don't worry about this, I look to help with constructive views only, and to share rather than denigrate.

With a helpful thought or two.

I got a different feel from this than John did. Actually, I had the same feeling until I looked at it for while. The blur, along with the angle of the eyes, kind of gives me the feeling of a quick movement. As if she has just discovered something that has interupted her world of innocence. I don't mind the frame as much as I do the writting on it. Cheers!

I like the focus on her eyes and mouth dear Lin :) but somehow her hair is overexposed and it is distracting a little bit from her face!

You could crop it more, just to have her face and eyes IMHO!

But overall very pleasent little girl`s portrait!

Anthony :

YEs,, you might guess right,, I have my daughter to play with Liz to intensionally distract her.. I like natural photo other than artificial posting.. Liz is constantly moving and I use camera trying to catch her. As a result, it is hard to focus..

everything here is naturaland instantously

Hello Longtang. A lot has been said. I will add what I can. The overall framing and cropping is well done. Maybe not crop so close to the eye. Allow just a fraction more space. Lovely portrait and those beautiful green eyes. Cheers.
