Hawk Owl

arthur sevestre

This animal was very actively ignoring me as I stood with camera on tripod for almost half an hour. After a long time it threw me an almost accusing look, as if to say: "Okay, okay, take the shot and be gone!". So I clicked three times, said thank you and was off to find a more willing subject.

My main question here is if the light green blur in the upper left is

disturbing. Cropping it off didn't look good, because it was too

tight around the bird. I tried to solve it a bit by putting a line of

the same colour in the frame. Fortunately the moss on the tree is

almost the same colour.

Comments as well as ratings are very welcome!

Thanks!

Publication quality.... very very well done.. The green patch in the background was a minor distraction... due to it's lightness but I think it can be easily touched-up during the printing process. Also the border works well too.

It looks a bit grainy and the green on the tree seems a bit pushed. But in general an excellent shot! Congratulation!

Wow! Now this is wildlife photography.

I like how the green of the tree sort of bleeds camera left into the background. The green patch for which you are concerned is only minor. if it bugs you, you could PS it out...or not. the rest of the shot is so stunning that this rather minor distraction is easily forgivable. this is an amazing catch. Your framing is perfect and your exposure seems to be spot on. Well done!

I agree, it does look a bit grainy and not perfectly sharp (although that may well be the scan). Also, for me the added border - notably the green on black - seems a bit extreme. While dramatic, I think the photo alone (sans border) would work just fine.

In spite of the comments above, I like this photo very much. Well done!

The trunk is actually kind of disturbing, the picture is not absolutely sharp; still, it works somehow, maybe because of the colors and the look of the owl. Well done! WJ

I like the composition and the story. Though I agree with all comments above regarding the pushed green color it doesn't bother me much as the author has its own eye on things around. Photography's an art after all.

Amazing shot. I agree that saturation is slightly overdone on the tree, but this is really just nitpicking. It's almost as perfect as it can get.

among similars. Composition, colors, amount of blur on foreground and background are just perfect, owl is very cute, displays wisdom, calmness, and a bit curiosity in his face.
