pt2 0 Posted June 30, 2006 I had taken a few more pics (of the same and different scenes). Depending on your suggestions for this I would like to post a couple others here for comparison if you don't mind. Sorry I am late, Thanks. Link to comment
megansteen 0 Posted June 30, 2006 IMO this doesn't interpret the theme in the best ways, although it has some elements that do. In some ways, the perspective gives a feeling of height, but it isn't definate. The trees help the composition a bit, but since we cannot see the whole tree, it could simply be a tiny bush. I am very interested in seeing your other shots you got of this scene. .megan. Link to comment
pt2 0 Posted June 30, 2006 Thanks, Megan. I had a hard time getting things into the frame because of the 'crop factor' grr... anyways, here is another photo of the same (not too different). highlights are blown out in this I was thinking of combining exposures but didn't. On second thought I decided some others (taken at a different angle) were not worth posting. Link to comment
pt2 0 Posted June 30, 2006 Here is a different one (blown out sky). I am not sure if this is OK (I mean posting a different one). Focalizers, please let me know, I'll delete it. It doesn't have to be discussed but I just wanted to know if my original pick was better. Link to comment
megansteen 0 Posted June 30, 2006 PT,IMO the last photo you posted, with the plant climbing up the building, shows this theme better, and is more aesthetically pleasing to my eye. I do not mind the blown out sky, since that is not where the focus is. .megan. Link to comment
seven 0 Posted July 1, 2006 PT, I agree with Megan that the last upload feels like a better interpretation - a definite sense of height. I would not have desaturated the non-greens totally, a bit of blush in the bricks would have appeared more natural. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted July 1, 2006 Join Megan and Seven, the climbing plant and angle of building are conveying the feeling of height the best. It is also pleasing as a general composition Link to comment
dominiquedodge 0 Posted July 1, 2006 The plant photo is both more interesting in it's subject and better executed IMO. I like the composition and the green snaking up adds to "High" - as the plant is growing up and up (remeber Jack and the Beanstalk). I also like the bold way you have the point at the top. uneboite 0 Posted July 1, 2006 It's also funny how the whole thing looks like an arrow pointing upward. Link to comment
rkynast 1 Posted July 2, 2006 Well, actually, when I saw the overpass photo, I thought it was a good interpretation of the theme and it reminds me of a particular overpass in San Diego that's very high; I'm going to have to disagree with most everyone on this. This is a good theme fit and well executed, PT. The b&w works well for this shot and brings out the cloud detail. Nice work. Link to comment
pt2 0 Posted July 17, 2006 Sorry PTs, for the belated response. This went to the backburner as the new theme photos started coming in. I just realized that (better late than never). Yes, I felt the same way as many of you did about the creeper photo. i.e. theme being conveyed in two ways. I wanted to get a better exposure of the sky by combinining two exposures but every time I took my tripod it rained, and I never got around to it, so I posted my other choice (the overpass). I liked it better with regards to technical aspects and the geometrical feel of it. I really appreciate you guys commenting on the other one too. Link to comment
