I think that this is a really cool idea that needs a little cleaning up. At the top of the thumb the photoshop work needs to be less noticable. That edge is too fuzzy. Also, the shadows from the girl go to our left but the shadows from the hand go to our right? A little tweaking and this would be great.

great idea, one thing though: i think an unsharpened background would look more "natural" and would by these means increase the effect!
