pt2 0 Posted June 23, 2006 Trying Knicki's advice to stand under the basketball. It is not perfect as the basket is in a closed room, and there are distractions around, but I liked the result, what do you think PT's ? Link to comment
megansteen 0 Posted June 23, 2006 At first I thought that this was an awkward angle and that it might be better directly under the basketball hoop, but the longer I look at it, them more I like it like this. I think that a small crop off the top, just taking away the light, but leaving the circle, may prove to be less distracting. That's just my opinion though. Megan Link to comment
lucyhollis 2 Posted June 23, 2006 Now you've got it! I agree that a crop might help remove the roof distractions. Some work with levels would also give the lighting a bit more popping. Link to comment
nirakara 0 Posted June 23, 2006 I definitely like this much better than the previous one. The sense of height is definitely there, I think this is a very good improvisation PT. This is sort of close to what I was thinking too (dramatic angle). I wish that the little part of the square light wasn't there, but it doesn't bother me much. I think you could've still posted it under the old one that way you could've used your 2nd slot for another photo. Link to comment
rkynast 1 Posted June 23, 2006 I like this angle to the basket. The ceiling is not a distraction to me and the backboard is now definately high. Well-done, PT. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 23, 2006 from the thumbnail I thought the white circle was a ball..a volleyball and my first thought was cool PT put a ball into the shot but did it have to be a volleyball. ;) I think it would be stronger with a tighter frame leaving out the volleyball and light. I do like the composition otherwise. Knicki Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 24, 2006 It took me a little while to figure out what angle you did this at untill my eyes went to the ceiling. interesting shot but I would crop the light out at the top. Kevin Link to comment
pt2 0 Posted June 24, 2006 Thanks for all your comments , here is another version without the lighted window and some more light( levels) I like the round lamp that looks like a ball;-))and left it. I think it is a good idea for PT's to try as much as possible to implement suggestions and show it again. Link to comment
dominiquedodge 0 Posted June 24, 2006 Version 2 is very pleasing. I really like the optical illusion created by the round object on the ceiling. They red adds a good touch of colour. I'd like to try a rotate and crop (to give a totally different composition) to get the round object into a corner, but I have been having internet connection problems so I'll post this quickly before getting cut off ... dominiquedodge 0 Posted June 24, 2006 here's a quick idea of what I had in mind (sorry if the cloning is rather sloppy) Although i like the straight composition, I find the tilted version seems more sporty. Link to comment
pt2 0 Posted June 24, 2006 Sorry Dominique, a complaint has arrived to PT headquarter, from the basketball league, saying it is too skewd up and the balls are not getting in, players are frustrated!!They stick to the second version....;-)) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 25, 2006 Megan, glad to know I'm not alone in the world ;) Dominique, I think your version does add a bit of sporty'ness or spunk to the shot. Perhaps, PT should do another reshoot and show us some more angles of this lovely hoop. Link to comment
nirakara 0 Posted June 25, 2006 Knicki, that was the first thing that crossed my mind within a fraction of a second when I first looked at the photo too, but I didn't mention it in my comment. It was nice to share the same optical illusions with two more people :-) Link to comment
