Guest Guest Posted June 20, 2006 a great tribute to the hosers of this world, a matter of education, actually. Link to comment
meli d 0 Posted June 20, 2006 In confirming the precise definition (of hoser!), I learned it was of Canadian origin, and I know we have friends in Canada, so no offense! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 22, 2006 of american slang says there are at least four meanings: 1. slut, whore, 2. wanker, nutter, 3. pal, mate, 4. swindler, defrauder a "real hoser" is the synomym for a real regular mate. as we can easily see, it's the context which determines the meaning. no reference to canadian origin, a common american expression, so-to-say. now, california, that's part of america, correct? meli d 0 Posted June 22, 2006 sully my page with all that slang will 'ya ~ i was thinking of submitting this to the Children's category.Okay, I thought hoser was a little heartier than the definition i found, really, but darn, i didn't dig very deep and the top 3 definitions online are all what I quoted above (Canadian Slang A clumsy, boorish person, especially an uncouth, beer-drinking man) ~ that's why I picked the guy on the left, as process of elimination (no pun intended) that I know it is not the one on the right, and certainly not The Little Pisser!! Guest Guest Posted June 22, 2006 i was only trying to cast a light on the dubious meaning of the term referred to. and, i was only quoting from my dic(tionary). i have deep repect for the enormous variety of AE four-letter-words, and i strongly believe we should make every effort to preserve its heritage. in case you do find my comment unsuitable, please state so, and i will certainly edit. i think our kids are spoilt enough:))). meli d 0 Posted June 22, 2006 I'm glad you did, because if I were going to include Hoser in this title for ANY reason!, I would want to know what I was really saying. Thus, my inclination to confirm a 'definition' for the Hoser word in question, before I used it, as I did above (prompted by your encouragement to try to reference the hose in the above photo!). Maybe, with all great affection and respect, I ought to pluralize this, and call it Hosers! Link to comment
meli d 0 Posted June 22, 2006 it certainly wins in the Humor category:) To Hosers! as defined clearly herein, with great affection of "the real, regular mate" masculine. Hallelujiah. Link to comment
