Guest Guest Posted June 19, 2006 Nicely done. I like your choice of composition and shutter speed. My one suggestion is a petty one. I think that this photo could use a frame...I know that may sound cheesy, and many people compensate for weak photos by using frames (people may accuse me of that), but I think it would complement your photo nicely. So, I hope you don't mind but I took your photo and converted the color space to SRGB (I shoot strictly RGB, but now convert everything that is for web posting to SRGB), and added a frame and a tiny bit of saturation... greg_barnett 0 Posted June 19, 2006 Thanks Clint. I really like your version. I certainly don't mind the idea of the frame. After all, if I were to hang it on a wall I would frame it. :-) The colour space thing is an interesting one. I keep getting disappointed with my pics after taking them from photoshop and saving for web use. I wonder if this is my problem. Will investigate more there. Thanks! Link to comment
peter_stacey 0 Posted June 20, 2006 Greg, love the shot and I definitely like what Clint did to it. The added saturation really makes it pop. In relation to the color space, if you just "save for web" in Photoshop, it doesn't automatically convert the image to sRGB (which is what browsers are expecting). So if you shoot in Adobe RGB for example, when you save for web, the image can loose saturation in a browser and look a bit flat. The best thing to do is do all your processing in Adobe RGB and then convert the color space just before saving. To do it, go under the "Edit" menu and then select "Convert to Profile". jay staton 0 Posted June 22, 2006 Greg, An outstanding first attempt. It would be an outstanding 100th attempt. Yes, the pumped up levels make a great shot even better, but I would have backed off saturation about 20%. The frame issue: most photos look better with a nice frame, but I think an internet viewer should visualize that effect. Perfect shutter speed, with almost all zones represented. The blues in the water add as well. Jay Link to comment
