Jack McRitchie 150 Posted June 18, 2006 Well, it's about time, David. Very nice picture, like a mastodon tusk washed up on a rocky beach. You got some great tones out of the 5060 (which is what I use). Would you care to comment about that out of focus area to the right? Intentional? Doesn't bother me at all, just curious. Regards, Jack Link to comment
ZuikoD 0 Posted June 18, 2006 Boy you were quick! The softness is on purpose. I wanted to accomplish, more or less, the effect of a swing lens, like the ones you have on view cameras. I did the tones in the Channel mixer, one for the tree and on another layer for the rocks. Also did an unsharp mask to sharpen the photo a bit, I then selected the tree and overlayed it on the rocks, added a vigenette and used the same vignette, resized it as a mask for the blur effect. Wheeuu! peace Link to comment
marco_ruggiero 0 Posted June 18, 2006 I like it very much and I agree with you on the softness that you have achieved it does enhance the image. I, as Jack find it also as a giant tusk washed ashore. Great image, and thanks for sharing the tecnique, since I seldome use P S other than the simplest adjustments such as levels contrast Etc.Welcome back, great shot. Link to comment
imanol 0 Posted June 18, 2006 bonito palito. Duda sobre el extremo inferior derecho... hubiera preferido palito. :) Link to comment

charodiez 0 Posted June 18, 2006 David, I think you did achieve what you were looking for, after all the PS... I find this image "moody", kind of... and quite different to the original. I do like the softness of the image... and the square format. I disagree with Imanol this time, I think that corner is perfect as it is. Link to comment
ZuikoD 0 Posted June 18, 2006 Thank you Charo. I figured that I have been using PS professionaly for more than a decade to do this kind of things for video and never tried it for my own things. So, el hombre renovado, will use it more. paz amiga Link to comment
pepa_de_rivera1 0 Posted June 18, 2006 Me gusta mucho David. La composicion genial, quizas echo de menos un pelin mas de contraste. Link to comment
ZuikoD 0 Posted June 18, 2006 Gracias ninya. Te refieres a mas contraste en el tronco? Sucede que el tronco es asi, casi todo blanco. Parece una tiza de escribir gigante. paz Link to comment
