A Day in the Emerald Green Waters of Phang Nga Bay, Thailand

craig_kunitsky

This is the clearest water in the world, and it was almost unreal being here. The movie "The Beach" was filmed about 5 miles from this shot.

Craig - great image with bold color. I like it alot. only possible thing (my style) might suggest is crop tight enough on left side so that log is cut off and leads into the image..but composition is subjective:)

Isn't it such a wonderful coincidence that the clouds mirror the log? The clear blue sky and sparkling sea make such great photo buddies. Your shot is a winner with me! :)

I would have had the end of the tree adjoin the edge of the frame. Something about the cleanly hewn end staring at me is distracting. I like the way the cloud formations seem to have the same general curves/lines as the tree. I also like the color. Overall, very nice.

Craig, I took the time out to view your photos, and indeed I must say, you have some really really really great shots, and some, well they're just sensational. Keep up the good work!

Craig,

I like this photo a lot. I like the colors, the driftwood leading into the photo, and the overall balance of the composition. My only issue is the butt of the driftwood on the left. The fact that its closest to the camera tends to exaggerate its size also. Not sure what you could have done, perhaps aim the camera slightly farther to the right so that the butt of the tree is out of the frame. I don't think I'd crop it out on the print now however because I think it would throw off the balance of the photo.

Lovely, perhaps best in the folder. And thanks for not just taking a photo of the freaking sky and water, that gets so boring! This old tree was a good piece for the foreground.

Very very well done. Last year I spent a week in Phuket hoping to shoot this kind of photograph... well uncessfully. You did an excellent work composing this piece... The scene was clean and quiet, no distracting tourists or fishing boats. Placement of the dead tree, with it's shape, really made a strong statement--most people would place a tree or a boat in the way that points out to the scene... your tree was pointing in which I think is strong. Also I notice the cloud pattern on the top-right complements the shape of the tree. Not sure if this was your original intent... but I think it's cool.

I love this shot, the contrast between the blue in the sky and the green-blue of the water is very eye-pleasing to me.

Thanks for your comment on mine. I'm glad it led me to your pictures and this one is a class act! Now I'm going to enjoy looking at some more of your work.
