walt yorgason 0 Posted June 16, 2006 The sky this particular evening was amazing. I actually missed the best part of it, but was able to get a succession of pictures as the light in the sky changed. This was the first shot - medium format 6x9 on Velvia 50 slide film. Link to comment
nigel d 0 Posted June 16, 2006 Very well done (on the series). I disagree that you missed the best part; I always like the darker part of the sunset when you can pick up the local lights coming on. It looks like you did well with Velvia getting this, I usually use Provia for these shots as that gives me good colors with less difficulty of reciprocity failure and high contrast in the scene Link to comment
walt yorgason 0 Posted June 16, 2006 Thanks, Nigel. I usually wait to take the picture until the sky is no more than 2 stops above the lighter parts of the temple. If its any higher, the color in the sky disappears. I don't have any graduated filters, so for now I deal with whatever lighting I'm given. So even though I missed the best part for the eye, I think I got the best part for film. I've had some luck with Velvia in this type of lighting. Over the last year I've taken many pictures from this spot, trying to improve my technique and use different films. I've gotten so I can get a good exposure on Velvia most of the time. I've used Fuji 160 NPC with not as much luck, but that was when I was less seasoned. Link to comment
