Very pleasing composition. The soft, muted colors work well. The horizon is fairly centered, but it doesn't bother me at all; I can't imagine a better way to crop this. Very nice!

It is always refreshing when the photographer gives so much technical information about what was used to capture such a pleasing image. I'm not a real fan of sunsets/sunrises but this one caught my eye. I believe it is the wonderful hue of the blue monotones with the one small patch of orange off in the distance on the horizon that really captured my attention.

The time span (15 seconds) creates a rich, smoothness, which is very pleasing. As Kim mentioned, the central placement of the horizon may be a little unconventional, but it works beautifully. I think it works because of the well placed greenery in the bottom third & the lighter sky in the upper third, leaving an unconventional, but eye pleasing middle third.

I find myself wondering if placing a subject at the end of this pier might have made it even more dramatic? But then I enjoy people :)

Simply, an amazingly well captured image. It proves that a digital camera in the right hands can capture wonderful things without PS. Really nice job!

Glenn, another fine shot, congratulations. You list many filters. Which one have you actually used to tame the sky luminosity ? Peter

Glen; without any doubt, a great shot. When this is said I think what makes the picture is the exceptional composition. The colour management is in my eyes less succesful. Something artificially smooth takes you away from being there and makes it all very artificial. I know that such colour treatment is appreciate by many on photonet, but for me it is not doing justice to this very beautiful scene.

Thank you Peter and Anders, I used all filters listed, no PS color changes or enhancements, just minor cloning of dust spec's and artifacts ~ GT

Thanks Glenn for your message on your "colour management". I understand that you use filters and not PS enhancement of colours. For me it comes to the same. All what counts, in my eyes is the result, the final picture.

This is a most captivating image. Very clear and dramatic composition. Where in Virginia is this? I'd like to go see this.
