there's alot of interesting elements in this photo but i feel like i have to choose between the great facial expressions of the people or the interesting juxtaposition of the two horses. just my opinion, but i feel like my eyes rest on it better if it's cropped like so. but in any event, I like it very much - you captured a great moment quite well. actually - the more I look at it, the more things i notice and the more i love it (especially slightly cropped!)

I find this photograph interesting because there is so much going on. The counterpoint of the horse in the distance in relation to the one in the foreground gives the image more "depth" in both senses of the word. I find it interesting that the horse and the people pulling on the horse seem visually unrelated, yet are connected by the rope. It is certainly an intriguing photograph which doesn't simply tell you what to think.

Charming facials... overall, visually stimulating. Kinna agreed with the crop but not as much.. the background horse was just too close to the edge.

Robert,

This reminds me of the shots in the old National Geo's that I used to spend countless hours as a kid flipping through. They were all old copies we'd buy for a 10 cents a stack, mostly issues from the '50s or '60s I guess. Printing, paper and probably color film wasn't what it is today... still they had a certain feel all their own. For some reason this shot has some of that feel.

Really a great shot. Of course I'm envious that your shooting this while on a break from documentary filming. Shucks, tough breaks! ;-)

I appreciate the effort regarding the different cropping, but I (of course) don't agree. First of all, the new cropping beheads the horse in a very brutal way. The new cropping is also unbalanced. The balance in the original enables the eye to wander between the different elements.

This was not a planned picture. The guys next to the tent started to pull the horse closer, and the horse in the background was coming into sight behind the nearest horse. I ran 3-4 meters and managed to take this shot before the moment was gone. The picture is almost the whole negative; I just removed a little bit on the right side.

But it is VERY nice to have people comment on my pictures and giving suggestions, thanks!

Robert
