is too small in comparison to the posts?

I like the simplicity; maybe think about cropping from both sides - I don't think you need the empty space between the furthermost pillars and the frame (but at the same time keep the bird out of the centre : perhaps by cropping out furthest post right totally.)

So I gave it a try. I'm not certain this cropped version works for me. Perhaps it looks a bit too symmetrical or too uniform? And also, even though the gull is close to the center (original), with the crop it looks smack in the middle. I would appreciate your thoughts, please.

I'd prefer no sky on either side. I've gone more square - but will need to look at the upload in order to compare.
