mikestacey 0 Posted June 14, 2006 This is a very appealing image Sean. You've got a good result from the Provia, something I've never managed to do. The sky is a fine finishing touch to this image, looks like a longish exposure? Detail is as expected for 6 x 7 and you've placed the zig-zag line of the fence well. A fine result. -Mike Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 14, 2006 There is a nice unity of color in the composition, between the darkest hue of the hard core and the brightest hue of water and sky.good as well is the texture of the decaying wood and its semi circle in the water, where the soft light and shadows are"playing" a nice role between them,I like the image Sean. seandepuydt 2 Posted June 14, 2006 Thanks Pnina, Mike and Julio for the comments. I wasn't sure about this when I sent it out for scanning, but when I opened it up I thought it was an interesting composition. Mike, I doubt I'll ever buy another roll of Provia especially with 30+ second exposures. I've really fallen for Velvia 100 and Astia. Thanks again - Sean Link to comment
leighperry 0 Posted June 14, 2006 Gorgeous colour palette Sean. There's a steely quality that I have also found with Provia under this type of lighting. The palette doesn't always work, but it really does here. This is a great composition too, especially with where you've positioned the projections through the horizon and how they interact with the sky. Great shot -- your best in my opinion. Link to comment
phil morgan 0 Posted June 14, 2006 Sean Great composition, the leading lines take you straight to the horizon, then almost out of the shot again, very clever. The colours in this shot are wonderfully balanced. On an overcast looking evening like this, I would probably have stayed indoors! Shows that I have a lot to learn about photography from people on this site. Congratulations on a great capture, Phil. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted June 15, 2006 Agree with Leigh that this is one of your best. Spot-on exposition and contrast, superb composition with the lead-in and connection of sky and land. What I love especially here is the color palette. Cheers Carsten Link to comment

jeff.grant 0 Posted June 16, 2006 Sean, this is another winner. You are certainly doing well with the 67. The Provia palette works very well here, but I'm glad that to hear you are abandoning it. I doubt that you will regret it, particularly when you get your own scanner. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted August 8, 2006 Lovely soft pastel light. I particularly like the banding in the middle of the frame, that line of lit-up water separating the pilings and the far shore. Also like how the jagged longer pilings interrupt the serene horizontals. Link to comment
christopher_f 0 Posted November 5, 2006 Perfect frame, beautiful composition and tone! I like it very much :) How much You exposed time? Did you do this about dawn or about dusk? Link to comment
