mark_johnson5 0 Posted February 8, 2002 Looks great in the small view. In the bigger view the comosition breaks down. Too many things in the frame - or too much deapth of field. Great colors though, good photo. On my screen at least, I'd say that the image is not bright enough. Maybe thats the way you shot it? Try rating the velvia at 40? Link to comment
sarasotalizz 0 Posted February 8, 2002 I agree with the comment about the excess elements being distracting, but I do like the contrast between the size of the (kites?) and the size of the people. I really liked this photo. The subject matter was very whimsical and fun. I love the way the light hit the bear, and the light and dark areas on the big rings. Link to comment
kevin7 0 Posted February 14, 2002 i appreciate the time taken to comment. i usually respond to my comments on my own pics quicker, but have been out of town for the greater part of a week due to some family business. i agree that it could be brighter. the scan i have at home appears brighter on my screen than this shot, and though i'm in partial agreement about the composition deteriorating at larger size, i think it also brightens as it gets bigger. i'm sure the scanning/viewing res has something to do with all this. i did rate the velvia at 40, which according to my logic will the increase the saturation and overall density after development at the stated velvia speed. so, would that actually make it darker? the slide looks great through a projector, so i bet my photoshop abilities and the time spent post scanning is all thats holding this back. plus personal preference...anyway, i ramble.... thanks again. david_owens1 0 Posted February 15, 2002 On my computer your scans look ok, but I prefer darker images anyway, as for distractions? well, it is a kite fest and after photographing the International Kite Fest here in Washington UK for 4 years I know what a pain it is to get clear shots. V good photo's. Link to comment
bradlinton 0 Posted March 2, 2002 I don't mind the commotion on the beach. It's an easy photo to look at. Your eye seems to be led to the bear by the lightened sky and white tethers. Link to comment
