ron_karpel 0 Posted February 8, 2002 This is a very nice composition. I like how the trail and the shadow draws the eye to the light and the city skyline visible through the trees. Link to comment
jean_schweitzer 0 Posted February 10, 2002 Eric I like the composition and the colours in this picture, I wonder hhowever if a mor esimple picture would be more effective, I hope you will pardon me to have played a bit with your picture: in croping the top, we focuse more on the personage, what do you think? eric_zimmerman1 0 Posted February 10, 2002 Jean- That is an interesting variation, and one I never thought of. It really darkens the mood of the image, though, and I'm not sure I like that. I wanted to convey the crispness of the wintry late afternoon, and I think the yellowish sky is a really important part of that. Your cropped version did however convince me to put a black border around the image to keep the sky from melting into the white page. Let me know if you think it works! Link to comment
jean_schweitzer 0 Posted February 12, 2002 Eric, yes black framing work well on this picture, I 'm not very good in framing pictures, but I discovered that when you have a good picture as yours here, it is worth to play a bit with different frame variations. I think that there are many exemple here (on PN) where the frame enhance quite a lot the picture. I'm a bit lazy and generaly do not use much time on framing, but I think it is worth to do...Jean Link to comment
seven 0 Posted August 22, 2002 Beautiful; definitely stick to the original version for the warm-cool contrast. This is actually a fairly complex image, so many elements, and yet it rests easy on the eye. I appreciate the way you've got the setting sun just right (no flare or glare) and the interplay of lengthy shadows with the curvature of the fence entering neatly from bottom right. Good depth with the building and the trio of walkers mid right. A pleasure to view. Excellent. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 5, 2003 I like Eric's version best too-- the trees are beautiful and add a lot. I would be tempted to crop some of the (to me) "excessive" foreground, but not much as the person still needs space. Was the snow really that bluish? Link to comment
eric_zimmerman1 0 Posted June 11, 2003 Yes, the snow really is that blue -- this was taken just before sunset. As for the foreground, I never thought of shortening it -- I don't think you can cut too much without losing the effect of the long shadows from the trees and walker converging toward the sun.
