I'm seriously considering on pulling this negative out for the

weekend and reprinting. To me, I'd like to have more of the hangings

on the wall show up. Am I wrong?

I think the pictures are on the wall are fine...they're not what I'm supposed to look at anyway, right? I am concerned though with the man being lost in the shadows. There seems to be this arm coming out of nowhere like a monster or something. I think your title "at peace" has thrown me off...is that sarcastic? This image is dark and moody and the woman doesn't look too pleased. I actually do like it, but maybe not as you intended.

The obscured background is perfect - were the clutter and grime of the walls and background too visible, it would take away from the tenderness of the hands, and the isolation of her face. I don't think we need to see the man - I think that his invisibility is perfectly reasonable, since the peace seems to refer to her state of mind. Nice work.

The concept is very nice, but I would love

to see this picture with less revealing light.

Probably just a personal preference :-)

I'm with all of the above! (just kidding). I think this version is great in it's anonymity (sp) and it's depressive darkness and squalor. (hmmm, not sure on the choice of any of those words, but they're close). When seen in context with the title (babies having babies), I think it's very appropriate to NOT see the man in the shadows as that's what men in these situations often become (rather than real, dedicated, always-around, fathers). The focus is this poor (I know, I'm reading a lot of social critique into this, but that's the way it feels) girl's future and her unborn baby, not on the unconventional family-unit that might be. The darkness of the background is perfect in its addition to the "mood", and what I really like (here comes the "classist" in me) is the pile of pots and pans in front of her (as if she'd just finished cleaning them all and stacking them neatly (ie: no dishwasher, and no gourmet cooking utensils) when the man (father of the baby or father of her?) comes up for a quick hug on his way back to the T.v. with a fresh beer)).

Anyway, long story short... excellent image, very well presented just the way it is.

p.s., I've been on a lot of nasty roads in my day, but I still think 178 is high on the list! :-) (keep in mind, I used it to return from Death Valley all the way to San Jose in one shot!)
