WJT 634 Posted June 5, 2006 Hi Darien. I use Neat Image on some of my work, especially with the faster negative film that I unintentionally underexposed. Man, does that grain pop-up then! I have been told the best way is to use it as a Photoshop Plug-in on a duplicate layer. That way you can selectively erase portions of the noise reduced image and restore any lost detail. That is the problem that I have had with noise reduction programs. Unless you're careful, you will reduce some detail along with the noise. Nice photograph by the way; a bit dark but good composition. Regards. Link to comment
darien_hewett 0 Posted June 5, 2006 Thanks Walter, Your advice is always welcomed, I was shooting at ISO 3200 with a canon 20D trying to "Stop" the beam of light, I had quite a few blurred images until I used mirror lockup then at least the image's got a little sharper. I just purchased Neat pro so I can use as a plug-in but this photo was just a FAST straight forward process, would have been better had I taken some time. I also have a vertical that I'm working on with greater detail in trying to expand my learning curve. Also I process this image using a "Canned" noise profile, I guess before I really get started trying to use Neat I need to create my own profiles using my own camera? Thanks, Darien Link to comment
