davidmccracken 2 Posted June 3, 2006 I feel this image may be open to misinterpretation. However, if there is anyone from Scotland looking at this, they may well understand it and the title. For the record, the leather 'belt' or 'tawse' was used for corporal punishment in Scottish schools. I believe the practice is now illegal. I hope you find the bottom in this picture a lot more attractive than a grubby Scottish schoolboy's hand! Feedback appreciated. Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted June 3, 2006 Hello David, I like the combination of history and skin. I had my education (in North Wales) "enhanced" in this manner in the 1960s. I like the image, there's lots of suggestion but no substance, which for me is a great way of showing something. Regards. Pete Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 3, 2006 They outlawed that type of punishment in the US many years ago. I don't think that they even let the nuns smash little kids fingers with wooden rulers anymore. The composition, lighting, and tone look very good. Perhaps that schoolgirl enjoys being naughty :) Link to comment
rob wray 0 Posted June 3, 2006 Bring it back, that and the birch! Perhaps this could be a new theme for you to do? This shot is good, I like the contrasts and the the way in this shot has been done! Kind regards Rob Link to comment

davidmccracken 2 Posted June 5, 2006 Peter, History and skin! You understand this picture perfectly. Thanks a lot. Ben, I am glad you like this. Lew, Nice of you to say so. Keith, I think you let your imagination get the better of you while making your comment. Thanks a lot. Rob, I am sure there are many that agree with you. Edwin, I think your mind is working like Keith's. Thanks anyway!Gerry, I hope the makers stamp did not make a mark on you. Frank, The 'Black and Tan' mentioned in the critique request refers ONLY to the colours depicted in this image. Link to comment
bowlesben 0 Posted June 5, 2006 o.k. you made your point now i will make mine (balls) i think that the comment you made on MH picture was rude. your work is good but i do not think that you can tell a photographer that he is always doing the same. you seem to be very proud of your forbidden work that we can go and see on another site.... well i think that when you show what you are showing on this picture it makes it a lot easier to please the majority (men) but artistically you are not better than MH your image has been done and seen over and over. sorry Link to comment
stephengalea 0 Posted June 5, 2006 When are you going to mature McCracken and moreover start to view others with a positive ethical attitude! Totally agree Ben Bowles! Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted June 5, 2006 Ben, Why you are defending the talent of others only contributes to my original theory. When I start to make comments on your work, I will welcome your critiques. If I am rude it is because that is my feeling at the time of comment. I hope that is clear. G. Steve, I am! Are you? I have never doubted your technical abilities... just your originality. Try to apply yourself and you could be one of the best photographers on this site. Meanwhile you are just a technician. By the way, it is pathetic to offer retaliatory comments on someone just because they make negative comments on you. I am nowhere near the technician you are, but I am more original... and whether you believe me or not, I really do like your work. It is just a pity you don't see my comments as positive. Erwin, Thank you! Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted June 6, 2006 John, It's not me, my bottom is much better looking.... You believe me don't you? I guess you were too busy looking at the picture to read the other comments. I actually posted a hyperlink in my critique request that would help explain the image. addendum - see here. Link to comment
