Superb elemental shapes which include dynamic features (the wave splash) and this super blue piece of what appears to be immovable ice. Excellent use of the smaller clear elements which lead us to the point of action. Sky mimics the wave action which couldn't have been any better if you'd tried to get it that way. I can't get over how blue this ice is! I just learned recently from an Alaska trip why ice is blue? The answer is; that it reflects back all the colors of the spectrum except blue. And a superb blue it is at that! Love to have this kind of subject matter in my backyard!

My point is and is not an ethnocentric position, that if we continue to participate in a photo-critique forum primarily based in English, that for the benefit of the majority of readers, we attempt to make our comments known by translation into English. My first comment is in German and doesn't mean much as presented for all but a few. I have let Julio know (in Spanish) that he can make use of the Babel Fish Translation site http://babelfish.altavista.com/ at no charge to translate his comments. It would just seem to be the practical and sensible way to operate. Am I wrong?

I agree Philip, this is an english language forum, and comments are not only for the photographer, but for everyone that is looking and commenting on a picture.

I did understand your german though :)

Thanks for the comment. I haven't enhanced the colours more than a normal raw conversion, but there seems to be a lot of colour in the ice due to the lighting. I've increased contrast on the ice though, and that explains partly the colour.

Hi Eirik. First of all I wanted to congrat you for this awesome shot. Really stunning colours and exposition.

As I'm spanish I can translate Julio's message ( as he uses to write the same in each comment you will know what he means on the next one ;D. But I agree this is a english forum and it's better to write in english, though may not to be our mother language.):

"Excelente encuadre, perfecta luz y color, belleza de encuadre, un cordial saludo Eirik." =

"Excellent framing, perfect light and colour, beauty framing. Regards Eirik"
