Maggie Hambling's Scallop Sculpture dedicated to Benjamin Britten is

the source of much controversy in and around Aldeburgh. Some feel it's

ugly, some beautiful, some beautiful but in the wrong place, etc, etc.

Even as I was photographing this tonight, someone shouted out the

words "It's rubbish" from a car as they were driving by. They

weredriving a rusty old Rover so i guess they know what they are

talking about :0)

I'm not really qualified to comment on the sculpture itself, seeing as how I have a copy of "Dogs Playing Poker" hanging in my den. I don't mind the context in which you've presented it here...the composition is good...the vertical seashell (?) looks a little dark to me, and so there is a tiny bit of detail lost there (on my monitor anyway).

I find this picture good .. ice
