Leigh, I am shocked, but pleased, to see such an atmospheric sky. This one has lift and feels expansive. I am afraid some of your others will look anemic by comparison. Well done...

The sky is awesome, sorry I don't have anything more substantial to say Leigh. This image is of the highest technical and aesthetic quality. ? Sean

This must be the same wonderful place as Jeff Grant is also depicting... or hopefully there are more of these beautiful places. And still your image is way different from his... and also from your previous series... I'm looking forward to see more additions here. In this one I see it's about the relationship between the clouds (fast moving, changing, round) and the rocks (angular and persistent to the forces of nature). I hope to see a second version with more intimate view of the grey rocks. And I can not object to anything on this shot...

This one seems different than most in this folder, converging on the rocks slightly off-center marked with some mist adding to the strong cross-talk between the sky and land patterns. Regards,

An excellent "big sky' shot..

Lovely tone, color & mood with good composition.

In other words a great shot Leigh. Well done!

Wow! A true visual impact very well captured! Appears you may have got rained on by the looks of these clouds.

Most definitely worth hanging as a large print Leigh...30 inch wide..very asthetically pleasing...well composed and thought out.

One of your best - the clouds, the color on the horizon, the mist (from breaking waves?) on the rocks just below the horizon, and the interesting cross-hatch pattern on the FG rocks. Maybe we have them over here, but I've never seen them.

What did you see when you saw that?

I am not sure that I would have recognized the potential in that scene. Congratulations. I am not familiar with that camera or lens. Can you tell me more about them?

Yep, this is a stunner Leigh. That little bit of mist rising off the distant rocks puts this completely over the top for me.

Leigh, this is my favorite of your series. The dark clouds at the top, the expanse of clouds from the horizon, the hint of sunrise, the "steam" above the offshore rocks, the sharpness of the foreground rocks in contrast to the clouds, the long shutter opening for the water....they all make for an incredible image. Overall, I think the clouds in this series of images adds considerably to the composition. Thanks for sharing.

This is definitely a beauty Leigh. Did you use a centre filter on this? Composition is a nice departure from your recent work and contains the scene nicely, or I should say the orientation of the rocks contain the scene nicely. That 58mm lens does a fine job too.

That's a really great photograph Leigh,it's also part of a great series.

As Eric mentionned the little piece of mist is just fantastic that way.

I'm also fascinated by how the sky goes from a low ceiling aspect, in the distance, to an almost vertical wall seen in the upper part of the frame all due to the super wide lens...hope it makes sens.

I see , in this particular image , a stronger relation/contrast/ opposition between the solide/tangible/ organic/mineral nature of the foreground and the vaporous undefined sky...

as said by the others, this photo scores high on both the aesthetical and technical qualities.

What I like here is the contrast between the detailed texture of the beach and the rocks on the one hand and the soft sky on the other.

Also, the sand breaths calm and rest, while the sky cries drama !

very good shot !

This is becoming a much-photographed location, not least by me :-)   Here's another composition from the same elements. The cross-hatching that Carl mentioned is more in evidence in that shot.

Allan, you can find out more about the camera here. The lens is pretty wide angle for 4x5.

Mike, I always use the centre filter with the 58XL. It's horrible without it.

Thanks to everyone for your interest.
