I've never really dabbled in fashion photography, but I particularly

liked this image. It was taken with a canon d30 and then digitally

cross processed from e-6 to c-41. i'd appreciate any comments and

criticisms as to why this is a good or bad fashion shot. thanks.

I am not a fashion photog, nor a pro of any kind, but I'd like to add my two cents anyway. I do like this, ALOT. But as it does not show very much of the *fashion* therefore I do not think it would make a fashion shot. I do think that it would make a great portrait of the young man

all the best

At first I was unsure of how I liked the combination of the suit and the water. Although this is not fitting to me it is still a very nice image. Very eye catching..I like it...

I guess this would be more portrait than fashion, didn't really know what to classify it as.

Unfortunately we had just come from a funeral and decided to go down to the beach afterwards. I think the mismatch of the suit and the water are a reason i like the photo. Thanks for the comments!

I like the saturated colors and background, but it seems like his eyes are partially closed rather then just looking down. I'm also curious to know what you mean by "digitally cross-processed E-6 to C-41"...???? That doesn't make sense to me.

jill,

using photoshop i adjusted the curves to represent the effect you get when developing e-6 (chromes) in a c-41 (print) process. colors are more saturated and it boosts contrast. it was a very popular thing to do in fashion photography in the 90's.

It's not a fashion shot because it doesn't show the clothes! More like a portrait. The digital cross processing is not as dramatic looking as the real thing, but the end result is interesting enough as a portrait.

Wow - great portrait! I don't know if I'd call it fashion photography as it doesn't show much fashion. Very interesting photo though.
