Great shot of ole Trickey Dick! I love the fact that his eyes are closed. With his raised hand it reminds me of a preacher at a revival. I like your type design too.

Pat:

Your comment couldn't be more square with my thoughts at the time of making this. It was common knowlege that 'Dick' was rather close to Billy Graham, and I always thought that a companion portrait of BG would make the perfect 'bookend' portrait to this one. I'm only afraid that after Dicks' tenure what was learned about the real Dick was such that it would not be surprising to learn that he was exploiting this relationship to further his own agenda of public speaking so as to maintain and foster the power that fed his selfish hunger. Seems others think this is to dated, dah, this is a photo document of a person that was in office some 30+years ago. If one is unable to see beyond that, any explanation would be fruitless. Though it may be to many words! Thankyou for comment on the typography many would gloss right by it, again thankyou for your perceptive thoughts and time...Sam

''I am not a crook'' What an ass he was, but he did some truly great things in his attempt to make the world a safer place. I wonder how history will judge this very enigmatic person?

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Good to come back here and read your follow-up. As far as this image being dated: well, history is dated. And this is a historical shot! I'm a graphic designer so I pay attention to typepography and the stuff most normal folk gloss over ;)
