Dunstanburgh Beach

ian cameron

The crooked stack of one of Northumberlands most evocative castles sitting on it's rocky rampart overlooking the oily black schist boulders of Embleton Bay. This was shot just prior to sunrise which was a rather insipid offering. It does however have the benefit of permitting huge amounts of detail to be displayed in soft ambient light, with pleasing rather than exciting colour. It's grown on me a lot I hope you enjoy it. Please take a look at some new images recently uploaded to Transient Light and Timecatcher.

Pre dawn light spreads pink fingers across the sky and punches soft

ambient light into the shadows revealing detail in the oily black

schist boulders.

This is a beautiful shot capturing the movement in the water as well as the beautiful landscape and sky.

Did you use a grad filter to get correct exposure on the foreground and sky?

And how do you get up that early?! :-)

I love shorelines with round stones like these. I like the exposure and composition a lot. One mild nitpick is that the green grass seems to leap out at the viewer and may benefit from less saturation.

I've seen so much pictures from this famous spotpoint but this is one the best!

Congrats really a masterpiece. -Fabio-
