View of Spring

Yes my friends, its yet another view of the beloved Holy OilCan, only this time it is in infrared using Macophot 820c.

Very Nice image !! I like the trees and there is plenty of them , I do feel that the branches on top above the building are not really needed , they do not hurt the composition , but Id prefer not having them in this one. I do like the concept of over hanging limbs . Beautiful scene! Robert

It's probably a combination of the way you expose/develop it, but judging from your IR uploads, this looks like amazing film. Kudos on getting into 4x5, too!

Oh! I really like this. What a great idea. I looking at this with my laptop and this really looks great with this display. Funny, as I drove by this today on the way to work I thought how green it is now and that next spring I'll try for really early morning light there. This is one of your better ones.

Walt, there are all kinds of good reasons for not submitting to digital without a struggle, and this is one of them. I am in the middle of remodeling a spare bedroom to accept two computers, two scanners, and my photo printer. Never give up. . . .

 

I just bought a UV filter myself, but I don't think I'll be producing anything like this. I would like to see this as a wall-size print. That black spire balances wonderfully with the limbs on the left. Great work!

Thanks Lannie! I think you meant to say IR and not UV, but I understood the intent nevertheless. A large print would be very possible with this one since the neg is 6x9; no problem there!

If I were to critique this one myself I would have liked to have had the full sweeping arc of the walkway in the lower foreground completely visible. Stepping back three feet would have done the trick. I did take a full 4x5 in Velvia RVP before I slipped in the Cambo back, and the walkway is fully visible in that framing, but a mono conversion to a simulated IR would not look the same to me. I will probably reshoot this location next year. Thanks for the visit. Regards.

Yes, Walt. I did mean IR. Thanks for catching that. I was reading a couple of days ago about photos made with UV filters, but I don't remember where.

 

I did notice earlier that you used the 6cm x 9cm back. I wondered at first, when I saw the camera used, how on earth you did this with a 4x5.
