atdeleted 0 Posted May 25, 2006 Nice spot so its really nicely composed. I love the strong colors in the field and the thunderstorm mood in the clouds. A very succesful photo. Link to comment
armindo_lopes 1 Posted May 25, 2006 This is an outstanding image, nicely composed, great colors, fabulous light and sky. To me this is a 7/7 image but I have been trying to rate since two days ago and I am not allowed, even 6/6. Link to comment
eduardocarrasco 0 Posted May 25, 2006 nice and simple, beautiful compotition, congratulations Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted May 25, 2006 Dieter, as I can read from the many comments and suggestion, such a beautiful scene would be treated by each of us differently, according our individual sensitivities. The photo is surely very attractive, but I would personally have broken the heavy centrering of the road, pushing it to the right, highlighting the trees in the horizon , or completely to the left (better?)so that the right side of the road starts at the lower left corner of the frame, and profitting from the beautiful lines of the field. I agree on the darkening of the clouds. Altogether well seen and well done. Link to comment
biskamp 1 Posted May 25, 2006 thank you for your comments anders, i see your point, though i do not fully agree. though i normally abhor symmetric compositions, for me this case is an exception. i took several views of this scene and add one where the road is pushed to the right - i don't have one to the left as you suggest -, but the effect should be simmilar. in addition you have the church as a counterweight. would you prefer this one to the symmetric one? AJHingel 127 Posted May 25, 2006 I like very much the photo you send with the road to the right and more depth, but as you mention the church disturbs the composition. In my view there are alternatives. I send two. If you want me to delete them from your portfolio send me an e-mail. Link to comment
biskamp 1 Posted May 25, 2006 thanks, anders, i think this is a very interesting discussion. honestly, i did not mean that the church constitutes a negative element, but it looks good also without it Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted May 25, 2006 No negative message from me on churches, but sometimes they do not serve a composition of a photo. Here is the second I promised. Link to comment
biskamp 1 Posted May 25, 2006 anders, the second is really great. normally i do not like quadratic formats, but here it is wonderful Link to comment
sherwinjames 0 Posted May 25, 2006 Very well done. I like the centered placement of the road. The patterns are awesome. Another approach would be to have slightly brighter highlights in the sky. Great work as usual, Dieter! Link to comment
billfoster 0 Posted May 26, 2006 Great color and a really interesting composition with strong lines pulling us right in. Great work. Is it me, though, or is the horizon a bit crooked? Link to comment
madison01 0 Posted May 26, 2006 When using shadow/highlights, you can get a 'halo' around the trees. I believe this is what has happened when you were trying to darken the sky. To avoid this, use a larger 'Highlight' radius and it will go away. This is an absolute stunner and whilst I hope my critique helps you, it's still doing exceptionally well. I know - I found it when browsing Top Photos ;0) kind regards Paul Link to comment

biskamp 1 Posted May 27, 2006 rhank you for your praising comments. paul, actually i did it much less elegantly. thanks for your advice Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted May 30, 2006 Very nice composition. The dark sky highlights very well the yellow of the rape fields. The light coming from right is great. The only thing I could critic is that the image is divided in two equal parts, but I admit that it would be a pity to reduce the sky of a half. Link to comment
