Hazardous sunset

Taken in one of Tasmania's most famous national parks, Freycinet. This park is famous for its

pristine beaches, Wineglass Bay the most well known, a Tasmanian icon really. You can see

one of the other beaches on my other upload today 'A New World', featuring the friendly

beaches. Dominating the park are the massive pink granite mounds known as the hazards

which often glow pink/red at low angles of the sun. Specifications : f22, shutter 8 seconds, 4

stop ND grad, ISO 50, Manfrotto tripod.

Michael may be referring to the noticable grad effect, but the composition is very nice. I like the centred channel and the T shape formed by the body of water. I would dodge the clouds out to even up the exposure and let the symmetry show itself even more. Regards.

Thank you to all for the comments, critiques and ratings. In fact there was very little PS work involved. The grad filter was resposible for the look of the sky rather than burn/dodging. I used the filter to intesify the sky & to get tweak out some of the colours in the sky. I find it difficult to get the subtle red/pink tones on the 5D without ND grads. I agree that toning down some of the ND effect may improve the picture and will try Leigh's suggestion. The colours in the scene were quite vivid in real life, with the setting sun on the pink granite and red lichen covered rocks.

Nice landscape, beautiful sky and light, great colours. But the composition is a bit too symetrical for my taste.

Thank you Denis and Henri. I agree that a less symmetrical composition may have provided more tension. However I do think the whole shot is well balanced with the movement in the water in the foreground giving drama to a somewhat static composition.
