Philippe, congratulations! Great image. I certainly don't envy you for having to read all this lunny rambling about your image. Techno-geeks and summer workshop rejects on these forums simply make me puke. Their notion of aesthetics doesn't go farther than cleaning the last grain of dust from the inside of their cameras or wipeing clean their trigger buttons. When browsing these forums I sometimes feel like walking through the crowded halls of a mental hospital where everyone seems to be on a direct line to God. "Two halves r no good!" ... "Booring!" ... "Two thirds are better! He told me so." ... "DOF should be at least 7.25 feet at that time of a day, but one should not push a trigger at that time without compensating for the Earth's rotation around the sun!" ... "Square is out, long live the rectangle!!!" ... More sky! Give us more sky!"

Ok, and now, calm down everyone, take you 400 cc's, and look back at what you have written. BTW, did I mention how much I hate anonymous elves???

Hi Philippe;

I am a grain producer on the Canadian prairie and I see this type of image on my farm every day throughout the growing season, so perhaps my perspective will be different than others'.

IMO, you've captured the rich green colour of the barley (c'est pas de ble, c'est org!) very well and you've captured a sense of motion without any obvious blurring. I'm not sure if that was the intent or not, but you've done it well.

Regarding the sky - in real life the prairie sky is usually a much darker blue than what you've captured and that is what makes your image appealing to me. I'm guessing the shot was taken near mid-day. The soft focus on the clouds and the light blue sky give the upper half of the image a watercolor/mural-like feel. A dark blue, polarized sky with sharp clouds would have made the picture very boring to me.

Well done!

Mark
