dchatter 0 Posted May 20, 2006 All your critiques are welcome; shot from the chest, without looking through the viewfinder. No manipulations. Link to comment
aeiffel 0 Posted May 23, 2006 Hi Debasish,I think you should play a bit with the contrast, especially in the sky where you've some interesting forms already.Attached an example of what I've in mind.Best, Fred. Link to comment
dchatter 0 Posted May 23, 2006 Lovely result, Frederic... it's much better now; there was very little sunshine, which accounts for the dreary and vague shadows in the original. I didn't manipulate the image one bit (blame my laziness), but I see it's worth doing it. Thank you so much! Best regards. Link to comment
aeiffel 0 Posted May 28, 2006 IMHO color photographs, be they from a DSLR or neg, almost always need to have their contrast cranked up when converted to B&W. Of course there're some situations where a picture will work better with all the shades of grey preserved, but I think it's rarely the case with street photography. My edit is surely a bit strong, you might prefer something more subtle (as I'd do). Keep in mind it was just for illustration's sake.Regards, Fred. Link to comment
LorenzaF 0 Posted June 6, 2006 Now these are the pictures I like, because of their allegorical meaning (or, at least, the allegorical meaning I see in them). The intersection obviusly (for me :-)) represents life, and the alternatives, opportunities, chances, different paths that life puts in front of us. And in this place there are several people, of different age, all walking forward (the sens of progress is underlined by the fact that they are portrayed with their backs turned towards us), as if rushing towards a career, towards success, or at least where they think they will find success. This feeling is conveyed especially by the two girls on the left, whose attitude suggest energy and strenght. But what is particularly significative here is that each person is doing this "voyage" alone, separately from the others, even if thay are all walking in the same direction. Which reminds me of the words of an Italian song that says more or less like this "each one with his trip, each one different, each one, in the end, lost into his own things". Which means that life is a journey that each one makes alone. I also like a lot Frederic's alteration. Link to comment
dchatter 0 Posted June 6, 2006 I'm very glad you like it, and thanks for sharing the song... It's a universal opinion I guess, and it echoes in songs originating in different geographical locations all over the world. Best regards. Link to comment
