seandepuydt 2 Posted May 18, 2006 Last month looking across Little Bay de Noc. Your thoughts are much appreciated. This is a repost of an image that was drum scanned. Straight scan without any adjustments. Link to comment

WJT 647 Posted May 18, 2006 Great sunrise, Sean! This should make a really wonderful large print. I am always interested in exposure info for photographs with ND grads; any details on this? Regards. Link to comment
seandepuydt 2 Posted May 18, 2006 Walter, I use a screwy method to figure this out. Using my ambient light meter I get a base reading. Then using my F3 with 105lens I measure the highlights. On this occasion if I remember correctly the base was around 4 seconds with the sky measuring probably around 1/125 or more likely 1/60 @ f/22. Then using my dial on my light meter I count the differences in stops. I want detail in the foreground so I bracket around the base reading. My method for doing that is counting 1 Mississippi 2 Mississippi etc.. I took 3 shots one at 4, 2 and 1 second. I couldn??t tell you which one was which so my method is still experimental. ?? now that I'm thinking about it this was probably 1 seconds. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted May 18, 2006 The difference in color is significant Sean, your good composition did not change... Link to comment
seandepuydt 2 Posted May 18, 2006 Thanks for stopping Pnina. What a difference a scan makes! Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted May 24, 2006 Nice shot Sean. I like how the curved shoreline is a counterpoint to the straight horizon. Nice texture to the water and you caught the colours and sun flare well. Link to comment
leighperry 0 Posted June 1, 2006 Looks like you are getting the hang of the 6x7 Sean :-) This is a really nice foreground arrangement. Did you happen to take any with the sun just over the horizon? Link to comment
seandepuydt 2 Posted June 1, 2006 Leigh, I really enjoy the larger negative for sure. The 10 images per roll got me on this one, this was the last of that roll. SO no I did not, however I'm waiting for the right light to revisit this location which is just a couple minutes from my house. Thanks for stopping I really appreciate your input on my images. - Sean Link to comment
