You have captured the beauty of this area very nicely. The exposure and composition are very good. I would have liked to see more of the mountains in the distance. It might give a better idea of the setting of this very pretty scene. But this is a very minor criticism of a very nice image. Well done.

Thank you Robert. Thank you Eduardo. Thank you Steve. I appreciate the comments.

Steve without a polarizer and neutral density filter the correct exposure would have would have been roughly 1/10 of a second at f11. The sun had already gone down and the light was fading pretty quickly.

Larry, it's lovely! Love those water ripples.

Thank you Kim. I wouldn't trade it for Rocky Mountain National Park but I gotta tell you the American River in California is an unbelievably beautiful area.

It is right outside of Auburn roughly 40 miles east north-east of Sacramento. Its close to where gold was found in 1849. I didn't have time to really explore the area but was seriously impressed with what I did see.

Thank you Leann.

Kim its going very slowly. A couple of interviews without much success. Actually the search has been on hold for three weeks. I was out in California for two of those and have been very busy at work since my return. But given the realities of the situation, I am going to have to start combing through monster.com again pretty quickly.

That's a bummer that you have to do this, but I hope it turns into a blessing in disguise for you.

Thank you Kim. I hope so too. I keep telling myself its not entirely bad to be forced out of my comfort zone on occasion. Now if I can just start believing it. :)

I went down here last in 1979, around when the Auburn dam stopped happening, and in the headwaters many times since. There's plenty of gold under that bar, by the way.

There is a group [isn't there always?] who'd like to start up the Auburn dam project again; a highly unlikely possibility. Nevertheless, the greater good for the greater number may renew a big power generation, flood control and recreation project concept as more valuable than this which few visit...and can appreciate just as well in a photo when it's under 90 feet of water.

It just so happens I am back in Auburn again even as I type this. It would be a crime to dam that river.
