malin.bjurling 0 Posted May 16, 2006 I love it! It makes me wonder how they are related and where they are. And who is the very important person in the front? I would crop away the windows in the upper part of the image since I think the background is a bit disturbing. Link to comment
hh253 0 Posted May 16, 2006 great shot and impressive faces, but I agree with Malin, I would crop the windows of the first floor Link to comment
neilpeters 0 Posted May 17, 2006 absolutely superb ! the square format throws me, my eye is expecting a 35mm spacing. but the image, light, and storyline is classic, dang ) neil Link to comment
rapo 0 Posted May 17, 2006 Malin, this was shot during th 8 may celebration in the suburb of Paris. There was some veterans listening to the speech of the major. I was amazed by these three men, and, after taking this picture,I had a small talk with the man in front. He appeared very delicate and sensitive, talking with a lot of modesty and discretion of his war in the resistance, his catching, his escape from the train going to deportation. And insisting on the everyday fer of this period. I kept this unusual comp and framing because it makes him appear rather small, as he was. Yours friendly. Link to comment
jfochoa 0 Posted June 2, 2006 Great image! I agree with Malin and I did a crop and some dodge and burning... I submit my suggestion. :) What do you think? Link to comment
rapo 0 Posted June 5, 2006 JF thanks for your opinion. After a second thought, I agree that I could have crop at the level of the irst floor, that is a bot disturbing. Your proposal is interesting too but I need some more air, it's too oppressive that way! Link to comment
kentb2 0 Posted January 18, 2007 IMHO I can see maaybe a little of the dodge and burn but I am much in favor of the orginal crop you posted Philippe. The other is far too tight. This is just a great shot. The outward pointed direction and layered composition of each character is so pleasing. Link to comment
frank_p 0 Posted February 10, 2007 Philippe, this is really wonderful. All things fit: composition, lighting, tones, and of course their graet expressions. Link to comment
