This was my first shot at graduation photos. Tell me what you think.

This graduation photo is a bit bland. It records what this young man looks like, but it doesn't really tell us very much about him. Or what HE wants us to know about him. I'd have tried to include something in the photo that helps describe that to the viewer.

In all fairness Glen, I think this picture tells plenty about what HE wants us to know about him. HE chose the setting, HE chose the clothes, and HE chose the pose. Not all graduation pictures have to be stereotypical and have someone holding a football, or wearing a letter jacket, or all that crap you normally see in staged graduation pictures. The man just wanted some nice, normal pictures to give to his friends.

As a portrait it doesn't interest me and I understand what Glen is saying. But if that is what the subject wanted and likes then it is successful. The framing with the tree helps. Above all, I think there needs to be sharper focus, especially on the face and eyes.
