stevespencer 0 Posted May 16, 2006 You have a very good portfolio with lots of interesting images. I like the way you are experimenting with the bike photos. They can make very interesting design studies, as you are showing. I couldn't resist trying my softening technique on this one just to see what it would look like, not that it needs improvement - it's just fine as it is. What do you think? -steve Link to comment
waynesview 0 Posted May 16, 2006 I went out and took another hundred-plus shots today, and you've given me yet another way of working them. Thanks, Steve, and feel free to make any other suggestions - very cool. Wayne Link to comment
stevespencer 0 Posted May 16, 2006 I'm glad you like it. I create a copy of the background layer, blur it, then adjust the opacity so the underlying sharp layer shows through. I've been working with this for a while and there is a whole range of effect that can be had by varying the amount of blur and opacity, and adjusting brightness, etc. It works well with portraits, and simulates the effect of a soft focus lens or a Zeiss softar filter (there are some examples in that article). -steve Link to comment
