I agree with all the above comments. This is a great shot. But a quick review of your folders exposes the fact that you are a very creative artist. A primary objective for participating in photo.net is to learn. I will take a lesson from this and thank you for posting it.

Staircases are a popular shooting subject. But, this one still stopped me for a while - the shot is looking upwards showing an optical illusion of a paradoxical double-sided stair like M.C. Eschers paintings. Its a very well composed pseudo high key picture with pleasing tones and interesting details.

The logical extension of filling the hole is an infinite number of smaller and smaller scale stairs. What is most interesting to me is how the image takes you into the misty unknown so powerfully.
