kahkityoong 0 Posted May 9, 2006 Il Duomo, Siena in Tuscany is the most beautiful church I have visited and I have been to many in Italy & France. The cathedral features : black & white stripes of marble, wonderful & cohesive architecture and a famous library decorated by lovely frescoes. It helped that this was my second visit here as one is easily dazzled by the eye-popping interior, just as magnificent as St Peter's at the Vatican but more intimate. Technical specs : ISO 50, f11, shutter 5 secs. Tripods are banned inside hence the use of a prop I found for the long exposure. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted May 9, 2006 Kah Kit, that is a great angle taken.Long exposure is very compatible in the low light of cathedrals . Beautifuly caught the details of walls, windows and dome.Sienna is a magic place in general. Nice work! Link to comment

alinux33 0 Posted May 10, 2006 I like very much the perspective you get in this photo. You had a very good control of exposure and details. The composition works good for the an abstract too, in my opinion. Great tones! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 12, 2006 Very good perspective, lovely array of details of this place. Cheers! Link to comment
stephen_masiello 0 Posted June 27, 2006 One of my top churches as well. When I was there I only had a canon point and shoot and no tripod so most of my shots are from the outside. I'll have to dig out my prints and scan them. Beautiful composition on this one. Done with skill. Link to comment
tom l 0 Posted August 12, 2006 Wow. A great shot. The perspective is quite unique, exposure is right on. It amazes me what we find just by looking up. Link to comment

cfreemanphotography 0 Posted December 3, 2007 I saw this in Pop Photo (congrats, btw) and was like "holy crap!" Having been to several of the Duomos myself, I can really appreciate how much skill went into seeing and capturing this. The angle is superb, as is composition overall, and exposure. Just out of curiousity... did you use a tripod for this? I can't imagine how you would get such a clean shot with diffractive starbursts/good DOF. Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted December 4, 2007 I used a table or chair to brace the camera for the long exposure. Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted April 22, 2012 Having just visited some of the beautiful churches in Chicago, I can appreciate this. It's hard to capture the beauty and architectural intricacies of these magnificent old buildings. This is very unusual and a very successful result. You've captured walls, windows and ceiling all in one shot! Quite remarkable actually. Link to comment
